We know what it's like when you're in an unfamiliar place, looking for somewhere to eat that has the food you like and the ambiance you enjoy, at a reasonable price. When we are reviewing restaurants for our guests we look for:
There are many excellent restaurants in the area. Here are a few of our recommendations with our own, personal rating (1=worst, 5=best).
Be sure to remember that it is customary here to have lunch at 14:00 and dinner anywhere from 20:30 to 22:00. Some restaurants may not begin to serve lunch before 13:00 or even later. That said, many restaurants catering to our visitors offer meals earlier... but it's always a good idea to ask!

La Bahia has been our favourite restaurant since we first came to Salobreña. The menu is diverse and traditionally Spanish.
The large selection of salads offered are fresh and creative. Hint: We ask for the sauce to be served separately. The Langostinos Pil-Pil (large prawns in white wine, chili and garlic) are the best we've ever had. The fresh fish is just that... fresh and delicious. The waiters are experts in the local catch as well as recommending the various ways to prepare it. Fresh fish is sold at Market Price so be sure to ask for the price before ordering. The meat choices include pork, lamb, chicken and beef.
Our favourite dishes: Solomillo de Tenera (Beef tenderloin steak), Râpé de la Casa (Monkfish, clams, shrimp in a leak cream sauce), Langostinos Pil-Pil (large prawns in white wine, chili and garlic).

They say that when you walk into a restaurant, you are more hungry for recognition than you are for food. On your second visit to La Biznaga (and there will be undoubtedly more than one visit during your stay) you will already feel like a local. The service offered by Antonio, Umberto and "little Antonio" is professional, fun and always excellent. They take great pride in their work and in the reputation they have developed over the years.
Our favourite dishes: Curried chicken, Lamb chops "Diablo", fresh clams and the BEST Paella in town.

When you are ready to see Salobreña from a different perspective, you need to climb up to the Moorish Castle and take in some of the most spectacular views in Spain. Around the town square you will come across what used to be the Ayuntamiento de Salobreña (Town Hall). You can also find the museum, various shops and artisans there... and Restaurante La Botica. Built in what used to be the village pharmacy, it has been beautifully redesigned, retaining some of the antiques from the era and displays local artwork on the walls.
The food is very creative and beautifully presented. As regular guests, we get the sense that the Chef has a lot of freedom to explore new tastes and combinations. The Tapas are always a treat and seem to come from whatever the Chef decides to create that day.
Our favourite dishes are: Râpé and Langostinos Kebab (pictured, bottom left), Pate de la Casa, Boquerones (grilled anchovies).
The location in the courtyard with the fountain, the birds and the flowers is beautiful, as is the view of the Sierra Nevada mountains from the top terrace. We gave the location a 4 rating as it is a bit of a hike up the hill to reach the restaurant. There is a bus that leaves from in front of the Beach House that will take you up to the Castle for a small charge.

A "Chiringuito" is usually a small, beach-restaurant serving local catch from the sea. Casa Emilio takes that a step further and offers a fantastic "Menu del Dia" (Menu of the Day) with a wide selection of meats, fish and pasta. Friendly, professional service, and you can hardly get any closer to the waves!
